Pedro Perez Sarduy is celebrated Cuban author, journalist and cultural icon. In 2016, Pedro will design and lead several Global Arts tours, providing participants the benefit of his personal perspectives on today’s Cuba, and access to his network of arts and cultural relationships across the island.
A native of Santa Clara, Pedro studied the classics and then English, American and French literature and language at the University of Havana. He has been a radio journalist in Cuba since 1965 and with the BBC Latin American Service since 1981. He is the author of many books including, most recently, “The Maids of Havana,” a novel based on this mother’s life stories about pre-Revolutionary Havana, and is the editor of “AfroCuba,” an anthology of Cuban writing on race, politics and culture. Pedro’s books are available in English from most major U.S. booksellers.
